The village of Etroubles is situated in the middle of the Great St.Bernard Valley, since ancient times has been a passage-way of goods and cultures, of saints and pilgrims on the Via Francigena and, hopefully in distant times, also of whole armies led by belligerent generals, including the most famous Napoleon Bonaparte.
Thanks to its strategic position in the heart of the valley, Etroubles is a starting point for many excursions and activities in contact with nature. Thanks to its climate and rich landscape, Etroubles can please both the mountain lover and who is looking for quietness, relax and pure air.
During the summer season, in the neighbourhood of the village, you can choose to go for a walk or to make an excursion on traced and safe routes to the High Ways. Routes for mountain bike and for riding are also available.
During the winter,  you can easily reach the near Crevacol station for practicing skiing, both beginners and expert skiers can find the track more suitable to their skill level. For those who like cross-country skiing the ideal destination is the valley of Flassin where a striking cross-country skiing ring, a comfortable foyer and a snow park have been created. On the surrounding mountains you can practice ski-tourism choosing some of the most appreciated routes of the valley. There are marked routes also for who loves excursions with ski sticks.
Particularly, the medieval village of Etroubles has recently become an open-air museum called “A Etroubles avant toi sont passés…." Thanks to the works of local and international artists, the roads of the village and its more characteristic glimpses have been enriched with paintings, sculptures and other works of art that placed directly in the small village centre give life to an unusual open-air exhibition.
Despite being a small mountain village, Etroubles offers all the main services from the grocer's to the tobacco shop, from the chemist's shop to the bank and post office, from the petrol station to the public buses. For every need, the centre of Aosta is within a 15/20 minutes drive distance.
